The Three Key Placements to Read First

Sun sign is what most people know - the sign the Sun occupied on your birthday. It describes your conscious identity: how you want to be seen, the role you play publicly, the direction you move toward when you are functioning well.

Moon sign is what most people do not know - and it is often more descriptive of inner experience than the Sun. The Moon moves through the zodiac in about 2.5 days, so it requires birth time to calculate accurately. Rising sign (Ascendant) is the zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at your birth moment. When you read your chart, note which houses contain planets - those areas of life tend to be where the most significant experiences (and the most significant growth) occur.
