Hecate's Crossroads — illustration

Hecate is the Greek goddess of crossroads, thresholds, and the space between states - between night and day, between the living and the dead, between a decision made and one not yet made. She carries torches because she moves through darkness and needs no escort. Her oracle doesn't give you comfort readings. She tends to show you what's actually at stake in the choice in front of you, the thing you've been trying not to look at directly.

How it works

State your crossroads - a real one, not a hypothetical. It doesn't need to be dramatic; it can be a choice you've been postponing for weeks. Choose the number of cards to draw (one for a single torch-light; three for a full crossroads reading). Hecate's oracle draws from a deck oriented specifically around thresholds, endings, and what's waiting on the other side of a decision.

Understanding your result

The cards in this oracle speak in Hecate's register: the Torch (what you can see clearly if you look), the Key (what unlocks the door you've been standing in front of), the Hound (what's following you from the past), the Crossroads (the genuine fork, what's on each path), the Dark Moon (what must end), the Serpent (what is transforming). Each card doesn't give you the answer - it names what's actually present in the choice. What you do with that is the crossing.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a Wiccan or Pagan practice tool?

It's inspired by Hellenic polytheist tradition around Hecate, but designed as a reflective oracle for anyone at a genuine crossroads. You don't need to practice any religion to use it meaningfully.

What if I don't have a specific crossroads right now?

Then this probably isn't the right oracle for today. Hecate's cards land best when something real is at stake. For general daily guidance, a standard tarot draw might serve you better.

Does Hecate's oracle tell me which path to take?

No - and that's by design. The oracle illuminates; the choice belongs to you. Hecate stands at the crossroads holding the light, not pointing the direction.

Is this for entertainment or spiritual use?

Both, depending on what you bring to it. We offer it as a reflective tool. If you have a devotional practice with Hecate, it can serve that too.
